Yunus Emre Enstitüsü 2017 Turkish Summer School

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü that successfully brings Turkish language and culture to all corners of the world through educational and cultural activities carried out, teaches Turkish language to tens of thousands of people every year at five continents of the world.

Students who successfully completed Yunus Emre Enstitüsü’s Turkish language courses abroad and foreign students who study in Turcology departments in universities abroad, visited Turkey as part of the “Turkish Summer School” program. 700 students from 57 countries and trainees will visit many historical, geographical and cultural venues throughout the month next to Turkish language courses as well as participating in cultural workshops such as marbling, pottery, cuisine, baglama, folk dances.

COMMON LANGUAGE TURKISH

The common language of students from many countries such as England, France, Algeria, Russia, Italy, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Germany was Turkish. Students who met for the first time and did not know the languages of one another, quickly merged thanks to Turkish, creating colourful scenes. Students visited the July 15th Martyrs Monument with Yunus Emre Enstitüsü counsellors. In the visit, participated also by July 15th Association President Tarık Şebik, the students were informed on the events that took place on the bridge on the night of July 15th and the heroism of 250 martyrs who averted the coup attempt. In addition to the architectural structure of the monument, 250 cypress and rose trees around the monument that represent martyrs, and prayers performed read day and night, moved the students.
BRIDGES BETWEEN HEARTS ESTABLISHED WITH TURKISH

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş stated that the Enstitü offers services at a total of 138 points in 60 countries. Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş said that the aim is for world societies to know more about Turkey and through correct sources, and that the Turkish Summer School is one of the significant programs organized in line with this. Prof. Dr. Ateş spoke as follows: “We organize many events to promote Turkish culture and art, and represent Turkey in national or international events. These activities, encompassing all colours of Turkish culture, enable us to contact face-to-face with hundreds of thousands of people and to explain ourselves. Our students blend the Turkish they learn in the courses with Anatolian culture, and the heart bridges between countries are consolidated with Turkish. ”

CULTURAL ENVOYS EXPLAIN TURKEY

Turkish Summer School participants competed on the social media to share their experiences about Turkish culture, art, history and language and to promote the natural, historical and cultural beauties of Turkey. The contest with the theme “Turkey through students’ eyes” was held in article, photography and video categories. Participants shared their observations with # RotamTürkiye hashtag on their social media accounts, and the students who were placed,  were presented with various prizes.
