ON HISTORY’S TRAIL: BELGRAD FOREST
Green area located on European side of Istanbul, was named after Belgrade Campaign of Suleiman the Magnificent. Flora in the forest with an area of nearly 5,5 hectares, mainly consists of deciduous trees and shrubs. A nearly four kilometres long hiking track awaits you in the forest that also features historical reservoirs dating back to Ottoman period.
OXYGEN STORAGE: POLONEZKÖY
Polonezköy on Beykoz province border, points to the rooted background of the friendship between Turkey and Poland. In the village established by Polish solider families received by the Ottoman in 1842, there is an enjoyable track designed for biking and hiking. 5,4 kilometres long track starts near gendarme station and circling the village, it ends again at the square.
