As you walk around the streets and explore Pergamon, you sense that this city is not all about history; it is a distinct region with an authentic nature, blessings, people and colours. Pergamon, situated between the bayous of Bakırçay, hosted five different cities each rising over the ruins of the previous one. Findings show that the first settlement in the city dates back to 8th century B.C. The city built over a 330 metres high hill, today home to the remains of Acropolis, was initially ruled by the Persians and later by Alexander the Great. City changed hands many times due to treachery, and became a glorious kingdom between 283-133 B.C.
